Sweden midfielder Yasin Ayari scored the side’s opener against Tunisia in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Group-F encounter at the Monterrey Stadium.
The midfielder latched onto the rebound after Viktor Gyokeres’ shot was blocked by the defender on the line and unleashed a powerful shot past the keeper.
The 22-year-old then put both his hands up and refused to celebrate the strike. But why did Ayari not celebrate?
The Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder was born in Solna, Sweden to parents of Moroccan and Tunisian heritage. He made his way through the youth teams of his country of birth before making his senior debut in 2023.
He could have played international football for Tunisia if he hadn’t been picked by the Swedish national team
