Project Amarjeet: Gagan Narang and Annu Raj Singh unveil free coaching initiative

Olympic bronze medallist and four-time Olympian Gagan Narang, along with his wife and fellow Olympian Annu Raj Singh, on Wednesday announced the launch of Project Amarjeet, a free coaching, mentoring and guidance initiative open to shooters, coaches and academies across India.

The initiative is named after Gagan’s mother Amarjeet, whose name in Hindi translates to “one whose victory never dies”.

Project Amarjeet will offer free support through three distinct programmes across grassroots, intermediate and elite levels.

The first programme, Udaan, is an intensive coaching camp conducted over three to five days at an academy’s own facility, with Gagan and Annu travelling to the applicants. The programme is aimed at underprivileged shooters and academies with limited access to elite coaching and is open to both rifle and pistol disciplines.

Pratibha, the second programme, focuses on long-term mentoring for talented shooters identified as having exceptional potential. The one-on-one initiative will be delivered both in person and remotely over an extended period.

Disha is designed as a structured consultancy and guidance programme for coaches, academies and parents seeking clarity in athlete development. The programme will provide focused and actionable feedback, along with a written direction document.

All three programmes will be open to anyone connected to shooting in India, irrespective of affiliation, geography, competitive level or institutional background. Applications will be reviewed personally by Gagan and Annu.

In addition to the three core programmes, Project Amarjeet will also conduct structured online and offline sessions in partnership with knowledge collaborators across six areas, financial literacy for athletes, anti-doping education, nutrition, sports science, strength and conditioning, and mental conditioning.

These sessions will be available to all registered participants under the initiative.
