The Sri Lankan puts some daylight behind the rest of the competition with a monster 88.68 metres throw, jumps to the top.

Oooooh, Neeraj cannot better his previous attempt as he registers a throw of 83.45 metres, continues to stay in third.

The American registers a throw of 83.01 metres, remains in second.
Peters- 85.73
The Grenadian continues his good rhytm, records another above 85 metre mark throw.

The Czech Republic athlete records his second foul throw on the bounce.

Curtis Thompson registers a throw of 76.09 metres in his third attempt.

The Sri Lankan records a throw of 80.53 metres in his third attempt.

That’s more like it from Neeraj! Breaches the 85 metre mark and jumps to third in the rankings. He has now reached the qualification mark for the Commonwealth Games.

Woah, Peters jumps to the top with a throw exceeding 86 metres, more than four metres further than Neeraj’s attempt.

Neeraj registers his first legal throw of the event, sending the javelin 82.77 metres.

Here we go, Neeraj back in action in nearly eight months aaaaannndd.... its not the greatest start. Neeraj registers a foul throw on his first attempt.

Grenada’s Anderson Peters registers a throw of 82.82, goes top of the standings.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott registers a throw of 81.47.

What is Neeraj Chopra's current World Ranking?
Neeraj Chopra is currently fifth in the World Rankings. Germany’s Julian Weberwho beat Neeraj at last year’s Doha Diamond League with a 91.06m throw, tops the rankings. Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga,fresh from a world-leading 92.62m effort in Rome, is second, followed by Grenada’s Anderson Peters and Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott.

What happened the last time Neeraj competed in the Doha Diamond League?
Neeraj Chopra breached the 90 metre mark for the first time in his career in the 2025 edition of the Doha Diamond League. However, the Indian javelin thrower had to settle for second behind Germany’s Julian Webber, who claimed victory with a throw of 91.06m.
Neeraj returns to action
The World Athletics Championship in Tokyo in September 2025 was the last time we witnessed Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra in action. And it was not a pretty sight. Neeraj, who was far from his best form, finished a lowly eighth and subsequently took an indefinite break to recover from the back injury he sustained during the competition.
However, he returns to a competition where he has enjoyed success in the past- Neeraj breached the 90 metre mark in the 2025 edition and won in the 2023 edition.
