Argentina gets a free kick after Mac Allister is sent to the floor by Al-Arab. The referee thinks about letting play go on, but decides against it and books the Jordan defender.
61' JOR 1-2 ARG
And Messi is right in the thick of things as he tries to switch play to the left-hand side of the pitch. However, the Jordan defenders are crowding him as soon as he touches the ball and manages to intercept the pass.
60' JOR 1-2 ARG | MESSI COMES ON!
Argentina: Lautaro, Paz and Lo Celso are replaced by Almada, Mac Allister and Messi.

55' JOR 1-2 ARG | GOAALL!
TAMARI SCORES!
Messi was getting ready to come on, and the Argentine players may have lost focus while preparing for the change, as Jordan manages to play around them.
The ball comes to Haddad on the right wing, and he plays a fizzing low pass into the middle, where substitute Tamari arrives promptly to tap it in.
Argentina concedes its first goal at this World Cup!
53' JOR 0-2 ARG | OFF THE CROSSBAR!
Lautaro Martinez is looking for more as he gets the ball outside the box on the left. He goes for a shot, which skims the top of the crossbar.

OFFSIDE
48' JOR 0-2 ARG | OFFSIDE!
Paredes gets the ball in the middle of the pitch and plays a lovely pass through for Lautaro.
He takes a touch past the advancing goalkeeper, but the angle is too tight to take a shot, so instead he takes his time and picks out Lo Celso in the middle.
The former Tottenham man makes no mistake in putting the ball into the back of the net, but his celebrations are cut short as the flag goes up for offside, against Lautaro’s initial run.
46' JOR 0-2 ARG
A loud cheer can be heard on the broadcast, and then the camera pans to show the reason. Lionel Messi is on the sidelines and he appears to be slowly starting his warm-ups.
Second half begins!
Argentina kicks off the match, shooting from left to right.
Jordan: Azaizeh and Fakhouri are replaced by Tamari and Almardi.
Half time!
And that is it for now, as the referee blows his whistle.
Argentina dominated the game as expected, and the players showed that they are a functioning group without Lionel Messi.
Will we see the 39-year-old come on for some minutes in the second half? Stay tuned and find out.
45+4' JOR 0-2 ARG
A free kick is curled in for Argentina from the right side of the pitch, and Otamendi meets it at the far post.
But it is not a third for the defending champion as his header goes just wide of the right post.
45+2' JOR 0-2 ARG
Jordan’s defence clears the ball away from its own box, and suddenly it’s a 1v1 between Senesi and Azaizeh.
However, the Argentine centre-back does well to hold him off and eventually draws a foul.
45' JOR 0-2 ARG
Five minutes of added time to play in the first half.
44' JOR 0-2 ARG
Jordan is having a strong finish to the half as they move the ball around on Argentina’s side of the pitch.
41' JOR 0-2 ARG
Lautaro gives away the ball inside his own half, and Al-Arab manages to skip past a few Argentine players and get to the byline.
However, his luck runs out as Palacios manages to get ahead of him and win a foul for Argentina.
38' JOR 0-2 ARG
Jordan is having a good spell of possession at the moment, and a cross comes in from the left.
Azaizeh is there, but he is not able to get enough height to make proper contact with the ball.
Positive play nonetheless from the debutant side.
35' JOR 0-2 ARG
A chance for Jordan as Azaizeh curls in a corner from the right. The Argentine defence clears it away only as Taha on the edge of the box, and he strikes it first-time with power.
But once again, the Argentine back line stands strong and blocks the attempt.
31' JOR 0-2 ARG | GOAALL!
Lautaro is the obvious candidate, and he steps up, sends the goalkeeper the wrong way and buries the ball into the bottom left corner.
He gets his first ever World Cup goal!
30' JOR 0-1 ARG
But hold on, there is a VAR check going on. Replays show that Jordan’s Al Rashdan caught Senesi in the face with his boot while trying to clear away the ball.
The ref goes to the screen and decides to award Argentina a penalty.
28' JOR 0-1 ARG
An outswinging corner comes in from the right for Argentina, and the cleared ball is repurposed by Tagliafico on the left wing.
He whips it into the middle where Lautaro’s first-time attempt strikes the crossbar. The rebound falls in front of the goal where Senesi comes in with a diving header, forcing the goalkeeper to make a quick-reaction save.
26' JOR 0-1 ARG
Play resumes.
23' JOR 0-1 ARG
A standard day in the office so far for Argentina, which seems like it will continue to dominate this game.
Maybe the Jordan coach will get to revisit his tactics now as the referee blows the whistle for the Hydration Break.
19' JOR 0-1 ARG | GOAALL!
LO CELSO SCORES! NO MESSI, NO PROBLEM!
Every Argentine fan might have wished Messi were on the pitch when the free kick was awarded, especially as the angle favours a left-footed player.
But, Lo Celso made sure to make up for his absence as he wraps his foot around the ball to send it into the top left corner, away from the side where the wall was placed.

13' JOR 0-0 ARG
The subsequent corner is played in from the right, and Otamendi gets his head on it at the near post.
However, the veteran defender is unable to keep the ball under the bar.
12' JOR 0-0 ARG
Giuliano Simeone wins the ball in his own half and runs the length of Jordan’s half and into the box from the right. He tries to put the ball into the middle, but Abudahab denies him with a well-timed sliding challenge.
9' JOR 0-0 ARG
The tone is being set very early in the game, with Argentina pushing Jordan back into its own half.
The back line is currently passing the ball amongst themselves, trying to open up spaces.
7' JOR 0-0 ARG
A well-worked move from Argentina as Julian Alvarez finds Lo Celso making a run in behind the Jordan defence.
He does well to get inside the box and finish past the goalkeeper, but the flag goes up on the far side almost immediately for offside.
6' JOR 0-0 ARG
Centre-back Senesi, who got his first start of the campaign, tries to play Lautaro through on goal. However his pass is heavy and the Jordan goalkeeper comes out to boot the ball away from danger.
2' JOR 0-0 ARG
Without Messi starting, it is the perfect opportunity for Lautaro Martinez to take on the attacking duties and grab his first-ever World Cup goal.
1' JOR 0-0 ARG
Neither side has any real stakes in this game, as Argentina has already sealed the top spot, while debutant Jordan has been eliminated after two losses in two.

Match preview - Jordan vs Argentina
Lionel Scaloni has changed little so far at this World Cup. Between Argentina’s first two matches, the coach made only one alteration to his starting line-up, preferring continuity as the defending champion moved into the knockout rounds.
But after wins over Algeria and Austria, Scaloni’s challenge, now, is about protecting legs and giving minutes to the rest of his squad while still carrying the momentum into the knockouts. “The idea is to give most players a chance to play. I think they deserve it and, whenever the match allows it, we will do so,” Scaloni said.

Argentina may have booked its spot in the knockouts, but there is a lot to play for in Group J
Defending champion Argentina has already secured the top spot in the group after wins against Algeria and Austria, while debutant Jordan has been eliminated after losses in its first two games.
Algeria will take on Austria in its final game, and a win for either side will take them to six points and help them qualify as the second-placed team.
If the match ends in a draw, Austria will go through due to a better goal difference, while Algeria will sit third and be in a good position to qualify as one of the eight best-placed teams.
No Messi!
Argentine talisman Lionel Messi is the biggest name missing from the starting lineup to face Jordan. But it may not have come as a surprise to anyone who tuned into head coach Lionel Scaloni’s pre-match press conference.
