France will begin its FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign in New Jersey on Tuesday when it takes on African side Senegal.
The two-time champion was denied a third title four years ago by Argentina after a thrilling penalty shootout. With attacking riches that include Kylian Mbappe and Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, Les Blues are once again among the favourites to clinch the title.
Senegal comes to the tournament after a controversial Africa Cup of Nations, which it won after a 1-0 victory over Morocco but had the title snatched by the Confederation of African Football. It would bank on its form to have a better run at this World Cup than the round of 16 exit it suffered in Qatar.
The France vs Senegal FIFA World Cup 2026 match will be played at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey in the United States on June 16, with kick-off scheduled for 3 p.m. local time (12:30 a.m. IST on June 17, Wednesday).
