In a bid to ensure strict adherence to tournament protocols and anti-corruption guidelines by all Indian Premier League franchises, IPL CEO Hemang Amin will meet the chief executives of every team by Saturday to “apprise and sensitise them on the dos and don’ts”.
“Over the last few weeks, we have observed that some of the franchises have been lenient in following tournament protocols, and there have been quite a few inputs given by the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU). Keeping that in mind, the IPL CEO will meet all the CEOs of the franchises, either in person or through teleconferencing, by Saturday and instruct them to follow the protocols strictly,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told Sportstar.
The decision was taken during the IPL Governing Council meeting on Thursday.
The move follows several inputs received by the Board regarding “anomalies and irregularities” in the conduct of certain franchises and players. Saikia revealed that “unauthorised persons” had been seen accompanying players and even entering the hotel rooms of players and team officials.
The BCCI secretary also raised concerns over team owners and players frequenting unauthorised areas. “We will not tolerate any sort of violation of rules. We are vigilant and we will ensure that the integrity of the tournament is not diluted,” Saikia said.
