Neymar Jr. will not take the field for Brazil when it takes on Haiti in the FIFA World Cup Group C at the Philadelphia Stadium on Friday.

The 34-year-old Neymar, in his fourth World Cup, has been sidelined since suffering a calf injury to his right leg while playing for Santos in Brazil on May 17.

He joined for training with the group for the first time on Wednesday, but there is no confirmation on whether he will feature in Brazil’s final group game against Scotland on June 24.

Neymar will not be part of the group in Philadelphia as Brazil aims for its first win of the tournament.

The Brazil FA said in a statement, “He will remain in New Jersey to optimise the final phase of his recovery process.”
