Switzerland will play Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group B of the FIFA World Cup 2026 at the Los Angeles Stadium on Wednesday.

The fixture is an opportunity for both teams to collect three points and give a significant boost to their qualification hopes.

FIFA announced that Portuguese referee Joao Pinheiro will take charge of the contest.

The 38-year-old has officiated in contests in Liga Portugal, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Europa League among other tournaments.

However, this is the first time he will be heralding a game at the FIFA World Cup.

He has officiated 440 games in his career so far and handed out 1980 yellow and 45 red cards.
