Railways swimmer Astha Choudhury clocked 2:18.37 to break the 17-year-old women’s 200m butterfly record on the opening day of the National aquatics championships in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

Vinayak Vijay (men’s 200m medley, 2:04.13) and Aditi Hegde (women’s 1500m freestyle, 17:20.82) rewrote two new individual records, while Karnataka women registered 3:53.45 to shatter the two-year-old 4x100m relay mark by more than eight second The split: Nina Venkatesh +0.65 28.34 59.55, Tanishi Gupta +0.44 27.85 58.41, Rujula S +0.38 27.60 57.98 and Dhinidhi Desinghu +0.46 57.51).

The results (winners only): Men: 100m freestyle: Akash Mani (Kar) 50.40; 100m backstroke: Rishabh Das (Mah) 55.44; 200m medley: Vinayak Vijay (SSCB) 2:04.13 (NMR, Old 2:04.34, Shoan Ganguly, 2025).

Women: 1500m freestyle: Aditi Hegde (Mah) 17:20.82 (NMR, Old 17:35.07, Bhavya Sachdeva, 2025); 50m breaststroke: 50m: Lineysha A.K. (Kar) 33.51; 200m butterfly: Astha Choudhury (RSPB) 2:18.37 (NMR, Old 2:19.59, Arhatha Maghavi, 2009); 4x100m freestyle relay: Karnataka 3:53.45 (NMR, Old 4:01.83, RSPB, 2024).
