Southampton has been expelled from the Championship playoffs final after being found guilty of spying.
The Saints were charged by English football authorities for allegedly spying on Middlesbrough’s practice sessions ahead of the teams’ games in the Championship playoffs.
After the independent enquiry, Southampton admitted to spying on Middlesbrough, Oxford United and Ipswich Town this season, leading to its ouster.
Southampton also received a four-point deduction in the Championship for next season.
Middlesbrough, which was beaten by Southampton in the playoffs semifinals, will now play the playoffs final against Hull City at Wembley on Saturday for a place in the Premier League.
