USMNT talisman Christian Pulisic was not named in co-host USA’s squad for its FIFA World Cup 2026 Group-D match against Australia on Friday.
Pulisic had starred in USA’s tournament opener against Paraguay, assisting one in the side’s 4-1 win. However, he was substituted off at half-time with a suspected calf injury.
He had downplayed the injury concerns after the match. ““I just got a bit of a kick in the first half so I’m really hoping that it’s nothing. Taking a little bit of precaution today. But I’m hoping I’ll be fine in the next few days.”
Since then, the AC Milan trained separately during USA’s training sessions, recovering from the knock. Teammate Tyler Adams didn’t show concern after one of the sessions. “Christian will be ready, everyone,” Adams told reporters. “Let’s relax.”
On Wednesday, team officials told reporters at U.S. base camp that Pulisic was still being evaluated daily and remains in a “modified training program,” doing individual work both in the gym and on the field.
