Sweden began its FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign in style by beating Tunisia 5-1 in their Group F match at the Monterrey Stadium on Monday.
Yasin Ayari opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a powerful strike from outside the box before Alexander Isak doubled the lead on the half-hour mark.
Tunisia looked like it had found a way back after Omar Rekik’s glancing header found the back of the net in the closing stages of the first half.
However, Viktor Gyokeres bagged a third 14 minutes into the second period before substitute Mattias Svanberg scored 18 seconds after being subbed on.
Ayari put the final nail in the coffin in stoppage time with another thunderous strike from outside the area.
