DR Congo will have its final shot at qualifying for the round of 32 when it takes on Uzbekistan in its last Group K match in Atlanta on Saturday.
The African team needs to win to hope to qualify among the eight best third-placed teams.
German referee Felix Zwayer has been named in-charge for the Group K match in Atlanta.
Besides officiating in the Bundesliga, Zwayer has also taken charge of games in the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
The 45-year-old was also the referee for the USA vs Australia game in Group D earlier this tournament, which was his FIFA World Cup debut. He produced seven yellow cards in that game.
Across all competitions, Zwayer has officiated 730 games, during which he has given 3,226 yellow and 63 red cards.
