Bayern Munich crushed host St. Pauli 5-0 ​in the Bundesliga on Saturday to ‌set an all-time season scoring ​record while also extending its ⁠lead at the top to 12 points with five games left to play.

The ‌Bavarians, who host Real Madrid next week in their ‌Champions League quarterfinal second leg ‌after ⁠their 2-1 win in Spain, ⁠are within touching distance of the league title with 76 points and second-placed Borussia ​Dortmund stuck ‌on 64 after its 1-0 home loss to Bayer Leverkusen.

A ninth minute header from Jamal Musiala saw ‌the visitor equal the record ​of 101 goals in one season, set by Bayern ⁠in the 1971-72 campaign.

But it added two more in quick succession, with ‌Leon Goretzka in the 53rd and Michael Olise a minute later, to beat the previous best mark and make sure of the three points.

Nicolas Jackson added a ‌fourth in the 65th before Raphael Guerreiro ​slotted in to make it 5-0, with coach Vincent Kompany ⁠having rested several players, including top ⁠striker Harry Kane.

Bayern is still in the running for three ‌titles and faces Leverkusen in the German Cup semifinal on ​April 22.

Leverkusen pips Dortmund

Earlier in the day, Bayer Leverkusen bagged a crucial 1-0 victory at second-placed ​Borussia Dortmund‌ courtesy of captain Robert Andrich’s first -half winner, to stay ⁠in the mix for a top-four finish with five matches left to play.

The ‌2024 Bundesliga champion is now fifth on 52 points, one behind ‌fourth-placed VfB Stuttgart, which hosts ‌Hamburg ⁠SV on Sunday. The top ⁠four teams qualify for next season’s Champions League.

It was a disappointing afternoon for Dortmund, which hit ​the woodwork ‌through Serhou Guirassy in the 83rd but also saw its defender Nico Schlotterbeck jeered by the home fans, who ‌are unhappy by his delays ​before eventually signing a contract extension this week.

The Ruhr valley club ⁠is in second place on 64 points with five games left.
