Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Sri Lanka A’s Vishen Halambage have each been recommended fines amounting to 50 per cent of their match fees, while India A captain Tilak Varma faces a proposed 30 per cent sanction following incidents during Monday’s India A-Sri Lanka A match in Dambulla.
Pradeep Jeyapragash, the match referee, has also recommended a 20 per cent fine for Sri Lanka A wicketkeeper-batter, Niroshan Dickwella.
The sanctions come after Sooryavanshi was seen involved in a heated exchange with Halambage and a few other Sri Lankan players after the match, bringing an ugly end to what had otherwise been a gripping encounter. He was also seen shoving Halambage.

Sources claimed that a few Sri Lankan players had been sledging Sooryavanshi and some of his India A teammates since the start of the tournament, often taunting them about their IPL performances.
However, unlike senior international cricket, disciplinary sanctions in A-team matches are not automatically enforced by the ICC. The match referee’s recommendations have instead been forwarded to the BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket, with the two boards now responsible for deciding whether to ratify and impose the proposed penalties.
While there was no formal hearing, the match referee imposed the sanctions based on the reports of the on-field umpires.
