Iran and New Zealand played out an exciting 2-2 draw in a Group G encounter in FIFA World Cup 2026 in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
The All Whites gained the lead twice only for Iran to strike back both times to ensure that all four teams in Group G ended the day with a point each, following Belgium’s draw with Egypt earlier on.
Elijah Just found the net twice for New Zealand, while Ramin Rezaeian and Mohammad Mohebi scored for Iran.
Both of New Zealand’s goals were outcomes of silky team moves, with star striker Chris Wood setting up both of Just’s strikes.
Rezaeian charged Iran’s counter punch. He found the first goal with a poacher-like finish and then set up his side’s second equaliser with an accurate cross for Mohebi to head it in.
