Curacao got its first point in FIFA World Cup history after it held Ecuador to a goalless draw in the Group E clash at the Kansas City Stadium on Saturday.
The result leaves Ecuador and Curacao in third and fourth, respectively, in their group with one point apiece.
With both sides facing defeat in the opening round, the game was a cagey affair with both goalkeepers, especially Curacao’s Eloy Room, being called into action a lot. He made 15 saves, which was one short of the record held by former USA custodian Tim Howard, which was set in 2014.
Ecuador will finish the group stage by facing Germany on June 25, while Curacao will take on Ivory Coast on the same day.
