Spain is set to take on Cape Verde in its first FIFA World Cup 2026 Group H match in Atlanta on Monday. This will be Spain’s 17th World Cup appearance, having won the 2010 edition. However, since that iteration, it has failed to progress past the Round of 16 stage. This will be Cape Verde’s World Cup debut.
Ahead of the game, Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente reiterated that his side would not take Cape Verde lightly. He praised Cape Verde’s organisation and physical qualities, saying Cape Verde is “well-structured” and has fast, powerful players.
Cape Verde comes into the game with Bubista, a 21-time Cape Verde international, as its head coach. Winger Ryan Mendes will likely captain the side in what could be his 99th appearance for the national team.
However, one could wonder whether the weather will play a role in the Group H game.
The Spain vs Cape Verde match is set to be played at the Atlanta Stadium, also known as the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Georgia, United States. The kick off is scheduled for 12:00 noon local time.

The weather condition around the stadium is expected to be hot, but less humid than usual. Match time in the afternoon is predicted to be clear skies with limited probability of precipitation. However, the night could get overcast, showing high signs of precipitation, and also has a risk of a thunderstorm as well.
