India kept its hopes of reaching the semifinals of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 alive with a nervy five-wicket win over Bangladesh at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester despite a slew of dropped chances.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s side put up a diasastrously profligate performance, shelling four catches in the space of 12 balls. Radha Yadav, Nandni Sharma (twice), and Yastika Bhatia were all guilty of putting down chances in a poor passage of play.
However, inspite of its poor catching India managed to restrict Bangladesh to 136 for eight in its 20 overs, a total that proved insufficient.
Shafali Verma, who survived an early dropped chance herself, led the way with a characteristically power-packed half-century from 29 balls as India survived a scare with 19 balls to spare.
Towards the end, Jemimah Rodrigues contributed with a quickfire 26 after India had lost three quick wickets.
