Brazil began its FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign with a 1-1 draw with Morocco in its Group-C clash at New Jersey. With just a solitary point to show after the opening encounter, the five-time World Cup winner will need a rich haul of points in its remaining two games.
Morocco beat Scotland 1-0 in its second group game to take control of top spot in the group. Brazil can move back to top with a handsome win over Haiti.
The Selecao will face Scotland in its final game on June 24. A win in that encounter will help the side seal passage to the round of 32 with seven points, irrespective of Morocco’s result. Morocco can qualify as group winner if it has a better goal difference after its final game against Haiti.
If Brazil shares points with Scotland, the team will end up with five points and will qualify as the second-placed team if Morocco wins against Haiti.
In case Scotland upsets the South American side, both teams will finish the group stage on the same number of points. In that situation, Scotland will qualify as the second placed team due to the head-to-head advantage over Brazil.
Brazil can qualify with four points too, if it manages to finish as one of the eight best third-placed team across all groups. If Ancelotti’s side fails to beat Haiti and loses to Scotland, it can still finish third but it is unlikely that it will finish in the top eight in that scenario.
