Jonathan David set a unique record after he scored a hat-trick for Canada in its group-stage match against Qatar in the FIFA World Cup 2026 match in Vancouver on Thursday.
David found the net in the 29th minute with a stunning right-footed volley to double the lead of Les Rouges, while he doubled his lead in first-half stoppage time with a tap-in.
With his third goal, he became the first North American to score a hat-trick in the FIFA World Cup since Bert Patenaude of the United States of America in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 1930.
