Argentina begins its World Cup title defence against Algeria in its opening match of the 2026 edition in Kansas on Wednesday.
The Argentina kit for the tournament features a golden patch on the front, symbolising its stature as the defending champion.
On top of the Argentine federation crest rest three golden stars, signifying the three World Cup title the side has won – 1978, 1986 and 2022.
On the back of the shirt, right below the neck, is written 1893.

The number 1893 is placed on the jersey to signify the year the Argentina Football Association was founded.
The association was established by Alexander Watson Hutton, who is considered “the father” of Argentine football. It is the first one of its kind outside Europe.
