Lionel Messi will be in focus as Argentina begins its FIFA World Cup title defence against Algeria in their Group J match at the Kansas City Stadium on Wednesday.
If he takes the field, he will become the first man to play in six different editions of the quadrennial tournament.
Messi scored seven goals in Qatar in 2022, and he put up a brace and potted the first of Argentina’s four straight penalty kicks to deliver a memorable win over France in the final, bringing home the nation’s first Cup since 1986.
