The Badminton Association of India (BAI) announced BookMyShow as the official ticketing agency for the tournament, which will be held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium from August 17 to 23. More than 6,000 seats will be available for the general public across six price categories.

Apart from the Rs 499 Early Bird ticket, fans can avail a 15 per cent discount across the other five categories for a limited period. Premium seating has been priced at Rs 5,500 for a complete matchday experience. Ticket sales will open in phases, beginning with the first four days of competition, with category pricing remaining consistent through to the finals.

The World Championships will return to India after 17 years, with the country last hosting the event in Hyderabad in 2009. This will also be the first time that India’s leading names, including Lakshya Sen, P.V. Sindhu and the men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, compete in a World Championships on home soil.

The field is also expected to feature top international names, including women’s singles world No. 1 An Se-young, China’s Shi Yu Qi and Li Shi Feng, and the Indonesian doubles pair of Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.

“The BWF World Championships coming to New Delhi is a landmark moment for Indian badminton and for the fans who have fuelled the sport’s rise over the years,” said Sanjay Mishra, General Secretary, BAI.

India has won a medal at every edition of the World Championships since 2011, a run that has marked its rise as one of badminton’s leading nations.
