The second round of matches in Group D at the FIFA World Cup 2026 were completed on Friday with USA romping to its second consecutive win and Paraguay condemning Turkiye to a second consecutive loss.
USA sealed qualification to the round of 32 after accumulating six points after two matches while two losses in two games means Turkiye can no longer finish third or above.

With the immediate tournament futures of USA and Turkiye already decided, the fight for second place will be between Australia and Paraguay.
The two sides face each other in Los Angeles on June 25 in a direct face-off for second place. Australia can seal second place with a draw due to its higher goal difference.
With three points in the bag, Paraguay will be fairly confident of making the knockout rounds as one of the eight best third-placed teams.
