East Bengal successfully defended its Indian Women’s League title after the match between Sethu FC and SESA FA ended in a 1-1 draw earlier on Tuesday.
The Moshal Girls, before their match against Nita FA, have 30 points from 11 matches. Sethu, after the draw, took its tally to 23 points from 12 matches.
This equation means that second-placed Sethu can only reach a maximum of 29 points in this season, which is less than the tally East Bengal already has with three games to go.
With this title win, the Anthony Andrews-coached East Bengal has also booked its spot in the AFC Women’s Champions League for a second season in a row.
