Manisha Kalyan became the first Indian to score in a South American League as she struck the winner for Alianza Lima, against C.A. Mannucci on Friday.
The 24-year-old struck at the half-hour mark as Alianza Lima, the defending league champion, won the match 1-0.
Manisha, who has previously played for Apollon Ladies in Cyprus and PAOK in Greece, joined Alianza Lima in January this year.
She made her debut in a 3-1 win over Deportiva Universitaria on February 6, and opened her account against Universidad Catolica in a 4-1 victory in a friendly in Chile. It was the second time Manisha found the net in South America, with her previous goal coming in a 1-6 loss for India against Brazil in 2021.
At the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026, Manisha was one of India’s goal scorers and she has continued her form in club football after the tournament.
