Curacao has made a stunning start to its FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign, leveling the scores against Germany at Houston on June 14.
Its maiden goalscorer is Livano Comenencia, a 22-year-old right-back who has been conisdered a promising young talent for the side.
Comenencia currently plays for Swiss side FC Zurich in the Swiss Super League. Like many members of the Curacao squad, he was born in the Netherlands, and played his youth football for PSV.
After representing Jong PSV, he moved to Juventus Next Gen, the reverse side of Juventus, before moving to Switzerland.
He was first called up to the national team in October 2024 for a CONCACAF Nations League match against Grenanda. He had two international goals prior to this match.
