Men’s team sweeps podium at IAU 24H Asia and Oceania Championship

Indian ultra runners swept the podium while winning the team gold in the men’s event of the IAU 24H Asia and Oceania Championship held recently in Hirosaki, Japan.

The women’s team won a bronze medal.

Amar Singh Devanda won the gold medal in the men’s individual event after covering 282.881 km (226 laps), setting a new national record. Geeno Antony secured the silver medal with 272.894 km (218 laps), while Saurav Kumar Ranjan claimed bronze with 260.058 km (208 laps).

India also bagged the men’s team gold medal with a combined distance of 815.833 km, establishing a new Asia-Oceania record.

In the women’s competition, Japan claimed the team gold medal with 707.357 km, followed by Australia with 684.450 km. India earned the bronze medal with a total distance of 667.722 km.

Avani jumps into top-10, Diksha best placed Indian at tied six

India’s Avani Prasanth jumped into the top-10 with a second-round card of three-under 68 after a slow start to the week at the Jabra Ladies Open de France here.

She is now tied ninth at two-under par.

Diksha Dagar remained the best-placed Indian despite carding a one-over 72. Diksha is tied sixth with a three-under overall, one shot ahead of Avani.

The two other Indians in the field, Pranavi Urs (75-73) and Hitaashee Bakshi (79-78), missed the cut.

Challenge De Espana: Saptak Talwar misses cut after rough second round

Saptak Talwar had a strong start to the week at the Challenge De Espana after a difficult second round card of 4-over 75 saw him slip down to T-94 on the leaderboard.

With the cut set at 1-under par Talwar (69-75) was hit by a disappointing second round. His total after 36 holes was 2-over par. Talwar made three birdies, three bogeys and two double bogeys in the second round.

Austrian Alpine Open: Yuvraj Sandhu endures difficult day, misses cut

Indian golfer Yuvraj Sandhu carded a round of 5-over 75 on the second day of the Austrian Alpine Open to miss the cut by a long margin in Kitzbuhel, Austria.

With rounds of 75-75, his total score was 6-over par while the cut was set at 3-under par.

Andrew Johnston will enter the weekend as sole leader with a total score of 11-under par.

Indian women bag 10 medals including two gold at U17 Asian Wrestling Championships 2026

India’s women wrestlers delivered a flawless performance at the U17 Asian Wrestling Championships 2026 in Da Nang, Vietnam, securing a 100% podium finish with an impressive haul of 10 medals 2 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze.

Leading the charge were Diksha (43kg) and Garima (73kg), who clinched gold medals with dominant victories in their respective finals.

India added three silver medals through Nikita (49kg), Antra (65kg) and Taniya (69kg). The bronze medal tally featured Palak (40kg), Anamika (46kg), Akshra (53kg), Sakshi (57kg) and Manya (61kg).

Ramesh, Srikanth shine in surfing competition

Kerala’s Ramesh Budihal topped the standings with an impressive score of 14.83, while Srikanth D followed closely with 13.00 in the men’s open quarterfinals of the seventh NMPA Indian Open of Surfing 2026 here on Saturday.

Teenage sensation Kishore Kumar (11.80), Ajeesh Ali (9.93), Sanjay Selvamani (9.57) and Sivaraj Babu (8.76) also secured their places in the semifinals after strong performances across the heats.

The second day of the tournament, a crucial stop on the national surfing series and a significant event in the selection of the Indian team for the 2026 Asian Games, greeted competitors with cool breezes and clear, sunny skies.

A total of six quarterfinals and six semifinals were contested across five different categories.

The day resumed with the action in men’s open category which saw 24 surfers compete across six heats of the second round for quarterfinal berths.

Kishore Kumar topped the qualifiers with a score of 14.17, followed by Ajeesh Ali (13.33) and Ramesh Budihal (13.00).

Also advancing were Sanjay Selvamani (11.27), Srikanth D (11.00), Sivaraj Babu(10.23), Tayin Arun (9.80), Naveenkumar R (8.10), Harish M (7.83), Som Sethi (7.77), Ruban V (7.57) and Sanjaikumar S (7.20), showcasing skilful rides, technical manoeuvres and confident wave selection in challenging conditions.

The second category in action was the surfing juniors 18 and under male, where 12 surfers competed across three quarterfinal heats for a place in the semifinals scheduled for the final day of competition.

The young surfers put on an impressive display, with Harish P (13.60), Tayin Arun (12.67), Som Sethi (12.00) and Yogesh A (11.34) emerging as the top performers to secure semifinal berths. They will be joined by Prahlad Sriram (9.40) and Pradeep Pujar (6.56), who also advanced after strong performances in their respective heats.

Mandaviya reviews National Games preparations in Meghalaya, announces high-altitude training centre

Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya expressed satisfaction with Meghalaya’s preparations for the 39th National Games next year in a review meeting here on Saturday, while announcing that a High-Altitude Training Centre would be set up in the state at a cost of Rs 150 crore.

“I have reviewed the ongoing progress of the infrastructure and preparatory work being undertaken for the 39th National Games in Meghalaya, and I can say with confidence that the National Games 2027 will set a new benchmark in the history of the event,” Mandaviya was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the Sports Ministry.
