The FIFA World Cup 2026 is well and truly underway, with football fever gripping fans in India and around the world.

Fans in India had to wait for a long time until before the tournament when Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited announced that it had acquired the broadcast rights for the tournament.

Where can I watch the FIFA World Cup in India?

  • On TV, the FIFA World Cup 2026 can be watched on Unite8 Sports 1 and 2 on TV in India, on their SD and HD variants.
  • On mobile phones, tabs, PCs and smart TVs, the World Cup can be streamed on ZEE5.
  • Subscription fees for watching the World Cup start at ₹799.
  • For mobile devices, fans must download the ZEE5 app from Google Play Store or iOS App Store.
  • Alternatively, all web devices can access the matches on https://www.zee5.com/.

ZEE5 has curated plans for every language as well as for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

How to fix buffering issues on ZEE5?

Several fans have encountered problems white streaming the FIFA World Cup on ZEE5, which include SPI-1002-1002 errors, sp-post-401-1002 errors or streaming dropouts.

Here are the steps needed to ensure that matches can be watched seamlessly.

On the Mobile App

  • Check your Internet speed on www.speedtest.net. A minimum download speed of 1 Mbps is needed to watch the World Cup, while a download speed of 5 Mbps is recommended for a smoother experience.
  • Update the App
  • Disable VPN or Proxy
  • Close the App and open it again.
  • Restart your phone.
  • For Android users: Long press on the ZEE5 App Icon -> Tap on App Info -> Tap on Storage & Data > Clear Cache.
  • For iPhone users: Got to Settings App -> Tap on General > iPhone Storage > ZEE5 ->Tap on Offload App. Now, Wait a few seconds and then, tap on Reinstall App.

On the Web Browser

  • Check your Internet speed on www.speedtest.net. A minimum download speed of 1 Mbps is needed to watch the World Cup, while a download speed of 5 Mbps is recommended for a smoother experience.
  • Log Out and Login Again into your ZEE5 account
  • Press F5 to refresh the page.
  • Try another web browser.
  • Clear Browser Cache and Cookies: Press CTRL + SHIFT + DELETE > Select Cached Images, Browser History, Time Frame > Clear Data.
  • Try Hard Refresh: On Windows: CTRL + F5 or CTRL + SHIFT + R | On Mac: CMD + SHIFT + R
  • Try to Open ZEE5 in Incognito Mode/Private Window.
  • Disable All Ad Blockers, VPN Extensions and Script Blockers.

On the Smart TV/Media Streaming Device

  • Restart your device.
  • Check your Internet speed on www.speedtest.net. A minimum download speed of 1 Mbps is needed to watch the World Cup, while a download speed of 5 Mbps is recommended for a smoother experience.
  • Disable VPN or Proxy
  • Open the app and try again.
  • Go to Settings (Gear icon on remote)-> Select Apps -> All Apps -> Click on ZEE5 App -> Clear Cache -> Select OK to Confirm.
  • For Android users: Long press on the ZEE5 App Icon -> Tap on App Info -> Tap on Storage & Data > Clear Cache.
  • For iPad users: Got to Settings App -> Tap on General > iPad Storage > ZEE5 ->Tap on Offload App. Now, Wait a few seconds and then, tap on Reinstall App.
