Nandni Sharma made her international debut for India Women in the first T20I against England Women at Chelmsford on Thursday, adding another chapter to her rapid rise after a breakout Women’s Premier League season.
Moreover, she impressed with a three-wicket haul and ended with figures of 3/34 in her four overs. She accounted for Amy Jones, Dani Gibson, and Issy Wong, using the slower delivery to great effect.
The 24-year-old right arm medium fast bowler from Chandigarh earned her maiden India call-up after a strong WPL 2026 campaign for Delhi Capitals, where she picked up 17 wickets in 10 matches and finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker of the season. She also made headlines by becoming the first Indian bowler in the WPL to take both a five-wicket haul and a hat-trick, returning figures of 5/33 against Gujarat Giants.
Her debut gives India another pace option as it builds towards the Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales, starting June 12. For Nandni, who was picked in India’s 15-member World Cup squad, the England series offers an early chance to test herself in overseas conditions before the global event
