England’s preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026 suffered an unexpected setback after training equipment was stolen before the team’s arrival in Kansas City on Saturday.
Vehicles transporting equipment to England’s training base at Swope Soccer Village were broken into, with footballs, boots and other gear feared to be among the items taken. The Football Association is currently assessing the extent of the theft.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel and his squad were scheduled to arrive in Kansas City on Saturday afternoon, with the equipment expected to be in place ahead of their arrival.
Police officers attended the scene on Friday night and are working with the FA as investigations continue. It is understood that two arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
The theft could potentially affect England’s preparations for its World Cup opener against Croatia on Wednesday. The squad is due to hold its first full training session on Sunday.
