Cape Verde will look to seal qualification to the round of 32 with a victory over Saudi Arabia in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group H encounter in Houston on Friday.
The African nation earned hard-fought draws over Spain and Uruguay in its two encounters so far. A draw might be enough if Spain beats Uruguay in its final fixture.
The Group E encounter between Cape Verde vs Saudi Arabia will be refereed by French referee François Letexier.
The 37-year-old is a regular in Ligue 1 and adjudicated 18 games in the French top flight this year. He also officiated games in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, Saudi Pro League and UAE Pro League.
This will be Letexier’s second appearance in the World Cup after the group stage game between Ivory Coast and Ecuador. He had earlier been part of the matches during the World Cup qualification campaign, the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Euro. He has shown the yellow card 1505 times in 400 games and has given direct red cards 69 times.
