






















The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has sought a detailed report from Gujarat food safety officials regarding the recent suspected food poisoning incident that has affected over 200 people. The case pertains to a large number of people becoming ill soon after eating dinner at a wedding feast in Gujarat’s Dahod district on Monday.
Sources said that taking cognisance of the serious nature of the incident, FSSAI has sought a detailed report from Gujarat Food Safety Department.
At the same time, the Central food safety regulator is also assisting Gujarat authorities in terms of sampling and testing among others , in what is being suspected as a mass food poisoning incident. It has also directed the state authorities to take strict action in the matter.
Reports indicate that the wedding feast was held in the Abhlod village and was attended by nearly 1000 people and over 200 people fell unwell becoming a medical emergency incident. The affected people had to be rushed to primary and community health centres as well as private hospitals.
