The revised figure comes after a government-appointed committee reviewed the dues, in line with directions from the Supreme Court of India, which had earlier allowed the Centre to consider the company’s grievances regarding AGR calculations.

Vodafone Idea Ltd has received significant relief on its long-pending adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues, with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) cutting the payable amount to ₹64,046 crore as of December 31, 2025, from an earlier estimate of ₹87,695 crore following a reassessment.

The revised figure comes after a government-appointed committee reviewed the dues, in line with directions from the Supreme Court of India, which had earlier allowed the Centre to consider the company’s grievances regarding AGR calculations.

Long runway

The payment schedule provides a long runway for the debt-laden telco. Vodafone Idea will pay a minimum of ₹100 crore annually over four years between FY32 and FY35, with the remaining dues to be settled in six equal annual instalments from FY36 to FY41

On December 31, 2025, the Cabinet had granted moratorium to the telco, freezing its dues at ₹87,695 crore and extending the payment schedule from FY 2031-32 to FY 2040-41. Additionally, the government had talked of reassessing the company’s dues after a Supreme Court order allowed the government to consider Vi’s grievances on the AGR matter.

“In this regard, we now wish to submit that the DoT vide its communication dated 30 April 2026 has informed that the Committee formed for the purpose has finalized the AGR dues at ₹64,046 crore as on 31 December 2025,” said Vi in its exchange filing.

The development offers a crucial breather for Vodafone Idea, which has been grappling with high debt, weak cash flows and subscriber losses in a highly competitive telecom market dominated by larger rivals
