Naval High Power Microwave (HPM)

Defence technology company Tonbo Imaging secures a contract from the Indian Navy under the ADITI 3.0 innovation framework to integrate and commission a High Power Microwave (HPM) system for naval platforms. The company’s selection under ADITI 3.0 highlights the focus on building indigenous strategic capabilities that align with the Navy’s changing operational needs and long-term modernisation objectives.

Tonbo Imaging India Ltd is a defence technology company focused on the design, development, and integration of advanced sensing, perception, and mission-critical systems for military and security applications. The company has secured vital domestic defense contracts, including a ₹37.28 crore deal for Indian Army SIG Sauer thermal sights and an NSG contract for submachine gun sights. It also indigenized missile seekers for Bharat Dynamics Ltd , upgraded BMP-2 infantry vehicle electro-optics, and supplied Arjun tank vision sensors.

Its portfolio includes electro-optics, thermal imaging, situational awareness, advanced electronics, embedded software, and emerging directed-energy technologies, enabling the delivery of integrated defence solutions that support operational requirements across land, maritime, and air domains.

ADITI (Advanced Defence Technology Incubation) is a Government of India initiative designed to enable the maturation, integration, and validation of advanced defence technologies prior to induction. contractual agreement

Commenting on the contractual agreement, Arvind Lakshmikumar, Managing Director and CEO of Tonbo Imaging India Ltd , said the programme represented a significant responsibility to execute complex capability integration with discipline, rigour, and clear alignment to end-user operational needs. “We are among the very few private organisations to own core intellectual property in vacuum tube technologies that are fundamental to HPM systems, and this deep technology foundation has been a key factor in our selection for this naval programme,” he added.

This engagement expands Tonbo Imaging’s role beyond imaging and electro-optics, strengthening its position as a defence technology company. The programme highlights its growing focus on system integration, advanced electronics, embedded software, and emerging mission and directed-energy systems alongside electro-optics expertise.
