Power generator NTPC said it showcased various renewable energy-related innovations before a high-level delegation from Myanmar, which could pave the way for strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.

Min Aung Hlaing, President of Myanmar, visited NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance (NETRA), the R&D arm of NTPC Limited, in Greater Noida on Sunday.

NTPC, in a statement, said its Chairman and Managing Director, Gurdeep Singh, briefed the President-led delegation about the company's growth journey and its past engagements in Myanmar.

Singh explained NTPC's various initiatives in research, innovation, and clean energy technologies that support the global energy transition, the public-sector power generator said.

"The visit provided an opportunity to showcase India's advancements in renewable energy, energy storage, green hydrogen, and sustainable waste-to-energy technologies and paved way for strengthening cooperation in the energy sector through capacity building, technology exchange, renewable energy deployment, and the development of sustainable energy solutions," NTPC said.

The delegation also visited NETRA's state-of-the-art in-house pilot facilities, including the 4 MW/1 MWh solar microgrid, a 3 MWh vanadium redox flow battery energy storage system, a green hydrogen hub, and an agri/municipal solid waste gasification-to-power plant.

"His Excellency expressed keen interest in NTPC's clean energy initiatives," the company said.

Under the Ministry of Power, NTPC is the country's largest power generation company, catering to India's one-fourth energy demand. The company currently has the power generation capacity of 90,667.8 MW at the group level, spanning coal, gas/liquid fuel, hydro, and solar electricity.
