SUMEET SSG BVG has partnered with Spencer India to upgrade Maharashtra’s MEMS 108 ambulance fleet with European-standard emergency medical equipment
SUMEET SSG BVG has announced a strategic partnership with Spencer India, part of Spencer Italia S.r.l, to upgrade Maharashtra’s MEMS 108 ambulance fleet with advanced emergency medical technology.
Under the collaboration, 1,756 ambulances operating under the Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services (MEMS 108) project will be equipped with European-standard systems, including stretchers, evacuation tools, immobilisation devices and critical rescue equipment. The rollout will take place in phases over a multi-year period, positioning MEMS 108 among the first state-wide EMS networks in India to adopt a fully European-standard pre-hospital care ecosystem at scale.
The deployment will include specialised patient-handling equipment such as advanced stretchers, scoop stretchers and transport chairs, along with neck and spine immobilisation systems for trauma care.
Expected Benefits
The initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency, improve patient outcomes and support frontline responders with globally benchmarked tools. Expected benefits include safer and more ergonomic working conditions for paramedics, faster patient transfers, and improved trauma management and stabilisation.
Summit Salunke, Chairman, SUMEET SSG, said, “Our partnership with Spencer marks a defining moment for emergency medical services in India. MEMS 108 is not just a fleet; it is a complete life-saving ecosystem. By integrating globally proven equipment, we are ensuring that every ambulance in Maharashtra meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and clinical excellence.”
Manish Malik, MD, Spencer India added, “The partnership will be carried out over a multi-year period, with phased deployment beginning in the near term and full fleet integration expected in subsequent phases, positioning MEMS 108 among the first state-wide Emergency Medical Services (EMS) networks in India to adopt a fully European-standard pre-hospital care ecosystem at scale.”
