From a potential US–Iran peace deal that could reopen the Strait of Hormuz and ease global oil supply concerns, to India’s May trade data showing a surge in exports alongside a widening trade deficit, and from fresh government measures to attract foreign capital to the launch of Noida International Airport in the NCR—here are today’s key updates across global geopolitics, India economy, policy reforms, and infrastructure development. US, Iran reach deal to end war, signing ceremony set in Switzerland on Friday Let’s start with global developments. The United States and Iran are set to sign a deal to end their conflict, with a formal ceremony expected in Switzerland later this week, according to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. While the final terms are not yet public, early indications suggest the agreement could reopen the Strait of Hormuz, ease restrictions on Iranian ports, and extend the current ceasefire. However, tensions remain, with a recent Israeli strike in Lebanon drawing criticism from both Iran and US President Donald Trump, even as talks progress.

Exports up 18% to $45.2 billion in May

They stood at 5.30 billion dollars in May, compared to 5.38 billion dollars in the same month last year, as noted by Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal.

NCR’s Noida International Airport opens for business: Centre says envisaged as a ‘true aerotropolis’

In infrastructure news, the NCR has got its third airport.Noida International Airport at Jewar has begun domestic commercial operations, with IndiGo operating the first flight. The government is positioning the project as an aerotropolis, aiming to build a wider economic ecosystem around the airport, spanning manufacturing, IT, cargo and services.Officials say the airport’s connectivity via the Yamuna Expressway and future high-speed rail links could make it a major hub for both passengers and cargo in the region.

FM Sitharaman hints at more measures to boost foreign inflows

In policy news, the government is stepping up efforts to attract foreign capital. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said recent tax relief on bond investments is only the first step, with more measures in the pipeline. She also pointed to the RBI’s new framework allowing public sector banks to raise funds overseas, with the central bank bearing currency hedging costs.Alongside, the government has removed several restrictions in the bond market and expanded access for foreign investors. At the same time, it flagged risks from import pressures, a potentially weak monsoon, and fertiliser supply disruptions, while assuring readiness to handle any exigencies.
