Farm unions, Opposition vow to fight India-US trade pact
Indian farm unions and Opposition parties have called for nationwide protests on February 12 against the interim India–US trade framework, warning it could hurt farmers by allowing subsidised American agricultural imports. The government says staples like rice, wheat and dairy are protected and claims Indian exporters will gain better access to US markets. But farm groups, apple growers and the Congress allege the deal favours US producers, lacks transparency and risks depressing domestic prices, reviving memories of the 2020–21 farm law protests.

New EPFO app to allow members to withdraw EPF money through UPI
EPFO subscribers will soon be able to withdraw their provident fund directly into their bank accounts using UPI, through a new mobile app set to launch in April. The labour ministry says part of the EPF corpus will remain frozen, while eligible amounts can be transferred instantly using a linked UPI PIN. The move aims to cut delays, reduce paperwork, and ease pressure on the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, which settles over five crore withdrawal claims every year.
Gujarat partners with Starlink to deepen digital governance & last-mile connectivity gaps
The Government of Gujarat has signed a Letter of Intent with Starlink Satellite Communications to roll out satellite-based high-speed internet across remote, tribal and border areas. Under a pilot project, Starlink will connect government schools, health centres, Common Service Centres, disaster control rooms and police outposts, aiming to boost digital governance, healthcare, education and emergency response in underserved districts like Narmada and Dahod.

Indian startup moves Belagavi court in Anthropic name row
A Belagavi-based tech firm, Anthropic Software Private Limited, has moved a district court against US-based Anthropic PBC over the use of the name “Anthropic” in India. The Indian company alleges passing off and misrepresentation, saying its brand visibility has been hurt since the US firm entered India in 2025. The court has issued notice on an injunction plea, with the next hearing scheduled for February 16.
