The industry body also proposed a five-point action plan amid the West Asia crisis, including phased rollback of fuel excise cuts, energy conservation measures, quicker MSME payments, stronger domestic supply chains, and front-loaded private investment.
Assam: Himanta Biswa Sarma elected NDA leader, set to return as CM on May 12
In state politics, Himanta Biswa Sarma was unanimously elected leader of the BJP-led NDA in Assam, paving the way for his second consecutive term as Chief Minister. The NDA secured a two-thirds majority in the Assembly elections, with the BJP winning 82 seats and allies Asom Gana Parishad and Bodoland People’s Front winning 10 seats each in the 126-member House. Sarma said the alliance would soon meet the Governor to stake claim to form the government, with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for May 12.
