Retail inflation likely rose 3.5-4% in March

Retail inflation is estimated to have risen from 3.2 per cent in February to between 3.5 and 4 per cent in March, driven mainly by higher fuel prices following LPG price hikes.

The Bank of Baroda expects CPI at 3.7 per cent, HDFC Bank estimates it at 4 per cent, and the Reuters poll of 45 economists forecasts 3.48 per cent for March. Food inflation is expected to remain soft, while core inflation may see a modest rise.
