The Maharashtra government has issued a fresh notification amending its earlier provisions under the Insecticides Act, 1968, to strengthen administrative oversight in the agriculture sector. The notification, released by the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Department, introduces new appointments at the divisional, district, and taluka levels.
According to the order, a new post of Technical Officer (Quality Control) has been added at the divisional level. These officers will function under the office of the Divisional Joint Director of Agriculture and will be appointed across various agricultural divisions in the state. The move is expected to enhance monitoring and quality control of agricultural inputs, particularly insecticides.
Agri officers appointment
At the district level, the government has introduced the position of Campaign Officer within the Zilla Parishad framework. These officers will be deployed in districts across Maharashtra to oversee implementation and coordination of agricultural campaigns and related initiatives.
Further strengthening grassroots administration, the notification also provides for the appointment of Agriculture Officers (Group-B, Junior) at the taluka level under Panchayat Samitis. These officers will be responsible for agricultural activities at the taluka or ward level, ensuring closer engagement with farmers and local bodies.
By expanding the administrative structure, the government aims to enhance efficiency in monitoring, outreach, and service delivery in the agriculture sector. The notification comes into effect immediately.
