Ch Srinivasa Rao, Director and Vice-Chancellor of ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), was conferred the 9th Prof. MS Swaminathan Award for 2024–25 here on Saturday evening.

The award, instituted by the Retired ICAR Employees Association in collaboration with Nuziveedu Seeds, recognises outstanding contributions of agricultural scientists towards strengthening India’s food security.

“This year’s award is particularly significant as it marks the birth centenary of Prof. Swaminathan, widely regarded as the architect of India’s Green Revolution,” a statement said.

Former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao presented the award to Rao.
