F&O Query: Analysis Of Tata Consumer Futures And Titan Fu...

Can I short Tata Consumer futures at current levels?

– Jeevanandham

Tata Consumer Products (₹1,144.60): After witnessing a rally in the recent weeks, the stock slipped 2.5 per cent last week. The downtick may not extend much as there are support levels ahead at ₹1,126 – its 200-day moving average – and ₹1,110.

That said, there is a key resistance at ₹1,200. Last week’s price correction happened on the back of this.

Given that there are two important levels, one, a support at ₹1,110 and two, a resistance at ₹1,200, it can be a bit early for us to predict the path of next swing in price. The equivalent levels for Tata Consumer Products futures (May) (₹1,150.10) are at ₹1,120 and ₹1,200.

As the recent trend has been bullish, the probability of the breakout of ₹1,200 is higher than the breach of the support at ₹1,120.

So, we suggest staying out for now. Go long on May futures if it breaks out of ₹1,200. Target and stop-loss can be ₹1,300 and ₹1,150 respectively.

Titan seems to be stabilising at current levels. Based on this, do you recommended buying futures now?

– Sunil Mark

Titan Company (₹4,385.20): The stock broke out of a notable resistance at ₹4,350 on April 8 and hit a record high of ₹4,544 on April 16. Ever since the scrip broke out, it has largely stayed flat i.e., it has been consolidating between ₹4,350 and ₹4,540. The May futures of Titan Company has been trading between ₹4,370 and ₹4,570.

Nevertheless, the outlook remains positive and the sideways movement is a corrective consolidation, which has now taken the price and the 21-day moving average to the same level of ₹4,400.

We expect Titan Company May futures (₹4,402.20) to resume the rally soon. This time, we anticipate a breakout of the barrier at ₹4,570. The contract can touch ₹4,650 soon after surpassing ₹4,570.

So, we recommend going long now at ₹4,400. Place stop-loss at ₹4,290. When the contract touches ₹4,570, revise the stop-loss to ₹4,450. Book profits at ₹4,650.
