Qatar Airways has added flights to the US to support higher travel demand due to the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Frequencies have been increased from Doha to Boston, Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco, the airline has said. The extra services will be in place on the San Francisco route until June 27 and on the other three cities until July 20. Flights will resume as per the usual schedule after the conclusion of the World Cup.

The increase in US services is part of its overall expansion plan which sees Qatar Airways restore services to various destinations in Africa, Asia Pacific and Europe. Qatar Airways is also resuming service to Philadelphia from August 1, it said.

Qatar Airways operations were hit by the Iran-US conflict which had softened travel demand to and from the region. Services are being ramped up and the airline has resumed flights to 26 destinations. Overall it will serve 160 destinations in its summer schedule.

Qatar Airways is the official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup. It had introduced travel packages inclusive of match tickets. The airline did not share data on the demand but an executive said the package was well received by football fans.
