Rapido has partnered with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to support nationwide awareness and citizen participation for the government's Rahveer Scheme, an initiative aimed at encouraging timely assistance to road accident victims during the critical 'Golden Hour' following an accident.

The collaboration was announced in the presence of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, senior ministry officials and Rapido co-founder Aravind Sanka.

As part of the launch, more than 4,00,000 Rapido captains and consumers took the Rahveer Pledge through the company's platform, setting a Guinness World Record, according to Rapido.

The company said the participation reflected the scale of its captain network and the potential reach of road-safety awareness initiatives delivered through mobility platforms.

The Rahveer Scheme is designed to encourage citizens to come forward and assist road accident victims without hesitation, recognising that prompt intervention during the first hour after an accident can significantly improve survival and recovery outcomes. The initiative forms part of the government's broader efforts to improve road safety and reduce fatalities on Indian roads.

"Road safety is a shared responsibility, and citizen participation is critical to reducing fatalities on our roads. Through the Rahveer Scheme, we seek to encourage individuals to assist accident victims without hesitation and help save lives during the Golden Hour," Gadkari said.

"I appreciate Rapido for leveraging its extensive captain community and technology platform to support this important national initiative and help take this message to citizens across the country," he added.

Rapido said it would leverage its technology platform and network across more than 400 cities to drive awareness of the scheme through a mix of digital engagement, in-app education, social media campaigns and on-ground outreach programmes. The company plans to integrate road-safety messaging across multiple consumer and captain touchpoints to build sustained awareness around the initiative.

The Bengaluru-based mobility platform said its captains, who interact with millions of commuters every day across cities and towns, can play an important role in amplifying public awareness about emergency response and responsible road behaviour.

"Every day, millions of Indians interact with Rapido Captains across cities and towns. This gives us a unique opportunity to contribute beyond mobility and help build awareness around issues of national importance," Sanka said.

"Through our partnership with MoRTH, we are proud to support the Rahveer Scheme and encourage greater citizen participation in road safety. The overwhelming response from our captain community and the Guinness World Record achievement reflects a shared commitment towards creating safer roads and fostering a culture of responsible action during emergencies," he added.

The awareness campaign will include educational content, captain outreach programmes and visibility initiatives across key markets. Rapido said it would use both digital and offline channels to expand awareness of the scheme among commuters, captains and the wider public.

Founded in 2015, Rapido operates bike taxis, auto-rickshaws, cabs, parcel delivery and other mobility services across more than 400 Indian cities. The company says its platform supports more than 9 million livelihoods and has a significant presence in tier-2 and tier-3 markets.
