Telangana Government will takeover HyL&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited from May 1 and appointed Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao as Chairman of the Board as part of the restructuring.
In an order, the State Government also nominated directors to the Board of L&TMRHL and the allotment of equity shares after the takeover process. While present HMRL Managing Director Sarfaraz Ahmad will continue as the Managing Director of the company after takeover, Shivendra Pratap will serve as Joint Managing Director.
The new Board will also include senior government officials such as Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary (Municipal Administration and Urban Development); Vikas Raj; Principal Finance Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania; Director General of Police B Shivadhar Reddy; HMWSSB Managing Director K Ashok Reddy; and TGSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V Patil.
Following a cabinet decision to takeover the phase 1 of Hyderabad Metro rail from L&T in February for ₹15,000 crore, including the existing debt portion, the State Government had applied for a loan of ₹13,615 crore from Indian Railway Finance Corporation which was sanctioned a couple of days ago facilitating the takeover.
