The PSU oil marketing companies (OMSs) increased the price of 19 kg commercial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder by ₹993, effective Friday.

With the hike, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi is now ₹3,071.50. This is the third hike in prices in recent months. Earlier, commercial LPG prices were raised by ₹144.50 per cylinder in March and Rs 195 per cylinder.

The price of 5kg free tade LPG (FTL) cylinder is also increased by ₹281 per cylinder.

Commercial LPG is deregulated and market-linked with prices being revised every month in line with global trends.

However, the retail prices of Petrol, Diesel and domestic LPG (14.2 kg cylinders), have remained unchanged, fully insulating domestic consumers from the recent increase in international fuel prices.

Price revisions have been limited to select industrial segments, which constitute a relatively small share of overall consumption and are subject to routine monthly adjustments based on prevailing international prices, Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) said.

Prices of Bulk and commercial LPG cylinders, which account for less than 1 per cent of total consumption, have been revised. The prices of Bulk Diesel and ATF for international airline operations have also been adjusted upwards, it added.

There is also no change in ATF prices for domestic airlines (scheduled operations).

The West Asia conflict has severely impacted imports of LPG to India. The world’s second largest LPG importer procures 60 per cent of its LPG. Of this, about 90 per cent normally is from the MEG and transits the Strait of Hormuz.

“The above measures reflect the calibrated and balanced approach adopted by OMCs, under the guidance of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, to align with global market trends while protecting domestic consumers and ensuring economic stability,” IOCL said.
