Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) has signed MoU with VST Tillers Tractors Ltd for collaborative research, product validation, performance testing, extension activities and promotion of farm mechanization technologies in Kerala.

The MoU aims to strengthen industry–academia collaboration in the field of agricultural engineering and farm mechanization by integrating the technological expertise of VST Tillers Tractors with the research, teaching and extension capabilities of Kerala Agricultural University.

The agreement will facilitate joint projects, testing and validation of tractors and farm machinery, training programmes, student research activities and farmer-oriented extension initiatives.

As part of the collaboration, VST Tillers Tractors will provide power tillers and tractors ranging from 13 hp to 50 hp for testing, demonstrations and research activities at KAU farms. The company will also provide suitable farm implements, technical support and assistance for the machinery deployed under the programme. KAU, in turn, will provide field facilities, operational support and research expertise for conducting product evaluation, testing and demonstrations.

The partnership is expected to create a strong platform for the development and evaluation of advanced mechanization solutions suitable for Kerala’s unique agricultural conditions. The collaboration will also focus on identifying technologies that can help address labour shortages, improve farm productivity and support sustainable agricultural practices in the State.

Antony Cherukara, CEO, VST Tillers Tractors said that “through this collaboration, students will also have the opportunity to engage with our upcoming Global Technology Development Centre in Hosur to develop cost-efficient, benchmark solutions that blend innovative technology with the needs of India’s small and marginal farmers.”

A. Sakeer Husain, Registrar, KAU said that the collaboration with industry leaders such as VST Tillers Tractors would enhance the practical exposure of students, improve research outcomes and support the development of efficient farm technologies tailored to Kerala’s farming systems.
